Your Journey with AEJ Disability Support

Meet Amy – Founder & Director of AEJ Disability Support

Hi, I'm Amy – an Independent Disability Support Worker and the proud Founder, Director & Sole Trader of AEJ Disability Support.

AEJ was founded in 2024, inspired by my full name and built upon three powerful words that guide everything we do: Assist – Empower – Journey. These words are more than just my business name—they reflect the heart of my work and the values I bring to every person I support.

I believe every person deserves to be heard, respected, and empowered to live life on their own terms. My role is to provide genuine, flexible, person-centred support that is tailored to each individual's goals, strengths, and aspirations.

The sunflower logo is a symbol of growth, resilience, and positivity. Sunflowers have always held a special place in my family, making them the perfect symbol for AEJ Disability Support. They reflect my personal journey—grounded in assisting others, blossoming into empowerment, and shaped by my experiences in both life and health. Just as a sunflower turns towards the light, I strive to help others grow, thrive, and shine in their own unique way.

I bring over seven years of experience in the disability sector, having worked across a wide range of roles, including:

  • People & Culture Team Leader

  • Disability Employment Specialist

  • Recruitment for Care Providers

  • Disability Support Worker

These roles have given me valuable insight into the many ways we can support and empower people living with disability and those experiencing mental health challenges. I am passionate about building genuine, respectful relationships and supporting people to achieve the goals that matter most to them.

I have extensive experience supporting people with a broad range of disabilities, neurodevelopmental conditions, neurological conditions, and complex health needs, including Miyoshi Myopathy (Muscular Dystrophy), Autism Spectrum Disorder (all levels), ADHD, OCD, ODD, Mild Tourette Syndrome, intellectual disabilities, sensory processing differences, dementia, vision impairment, epilepsy, and diabetes.

I also have experience supporting participants requiring PEG feeding, administering medication, following individual health care plans, and supporting people who are non-verbal or Deaf, ensuring communication is always respectful, accessible, inclusive, and tailored to each person's preferred communication style.

In addition to my disability support experience, I have extensive experience supporting people living with a wide range of mental health conditions, providing compassionate, person-centred care that promotes recovery, resilience, independence, and overall wellbeing. I have supported individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, psychosis, agoraphobia, complex PTSD, and other complex mental health challenges. My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and recovery-oriented, recognising the importance of building trust, preserving dignity, promoting choice and control, and tailoring support to each person's individual needs, strengths, and goals.

I have successfully completed a Certificate III in Individual Support, a Certificate IV in Disability, and I am currently studying a Diploma of Mental Health to further strengthen my knowledge and skills in supporting people experiencing mental health challenges.

I also hold current qualifications in:

  • First Aid & CPR

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Administering Medication

  • Infection Control

  • Disaster Recovery Concepts

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Working with Children Check

To ensure the safety and peace of mind of those I support, I am fully covered by Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

I look forward to meeting you and working alongside you on your journey towards greater independence, wellbeing, and a fulfilling life.
